One of the great advantages of VMRay is that its core is completely agnostic to the targeted guest operating system and the underlying hardware platform. To utilize this great feature, we had have been busy working to add additional support for other guest operating systems during the last weeks.
VMRay now supports Windows 8
We have completed Windows 8 support and, internally, now also analyze each piece of malware on this Microsoft operating system. After a bit more on-site testing, Windows 8 support will become publically available in our official release within a few weeks.

VMRay now supports legacy 32-Bit systems
In general, VMRay has been able to analyze 32-Bit as well as 64-Bit Windows files from the beginning. However, there have been two different issues with some particular legacy malware samples:
- 32-Bit kernel rootkits could not be handled, and
- 32-Bit usermode malware that failed to identify the operating system it was running on and, hence, tried to inject 32-Bit code into 64-Bit system processes could not be completely analyzed.
To overcome these two drawbacks, we now have added pure 32-Bit support. As with our new Windows 8 support, we now execute -internally- each malware file additionally on a pure Windows 7 32-Bit machine. In a few weeks, and after some additional testing, we will integrate this feature into the stable release of our solution as well.
Another great advantage of our technology is that it’s agnostic from the underlying hardware architecture, and even the hypervisor itself.
